
Every month we welcome many new students to Battersea Yoga who have never been to a yoga class before - and most profess to be unable to touch their shins, let alone their toes.
Fear not. The best way forward is to join one of our popular beginner's courses with either Nadia or Mariette. Once you have mastered the basics (and the point) of yoga, you can move onto the Open classes or one of the intermediate classes.
The Beginner's classes introduce all the foundation postures (asanas) from which all intermediate postures evolve including the standing poses, first balances, twists, backbends, sidebends and inversions, Pranayama (breathing techniques and awareness), an introduction to Surya Namaska (the sun salutation), Sivasana (deep restorative relaxation) and meditation. It is suitable for complete beginners or those with some experience and provides an excellent start to the practice.
