Ingredients
1 kg carrots
1 onion
1 lt stock (veg or chicken)
100g ground almonds
salt & pepper
Carrot and Almond Soup
This Yummy Autumnal Soup recipe has been kindly supplied by Battersea Yoga's Lon - thank you.

Roughly chop the onion and soften in some olive oil over a medium heat.
Add the peeled and chopped carrots and stock
Bring to the boil and simmer until carrots are cooked (about 20 mins)
Puree with hand held blender (or liquidise when it has cooled a little)
Add the ground almonds & seasoning

The almonds will thicken the soup, so adjust amount according to preferred consistency (or add more stock if it is too thick...)

Delicious with ciabatta or a dark rye bread

This nourishing soup can be completely vegetarian or for extra protein, use chicken stock

Ingredients
1 cup (150g) flour – half wholemeal and half plain works well
¾ tsp ground ginger
½ tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
75g butter or margarine, melted
½ cup (100g) sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 large egg
Chewy Molasses Cookies
This recipe kindly supplied by Laura at the Yoga Hall.

Molasses is rich in iron – more iron for fewer calories than meat. It is also rich in vitamin c, calcium, potassium, manganese, copper and magnesium. It is a very dark brown thick liquid – buy it in a jar from health food shops and some supermarkets. These molasses recipes are delicious anytime – particularly during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for growing toddlers and children. Make one of these recipes as a present for a new mum.

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4/180°C/350°F.
Stir flour, spices and bicarbonate together in a small bowl.
Mix melted butter with sugar and molasses in a large bowl.
Lightly beat the egg and stir it into the butter mixture, then gently stir in dry ingredients.
Line 2 large baking sheets with tinfoil and place heaped dessertspoonfuls about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes.
Cool for a few minutes then transfer to wire racks

Super Green Smoothie
This recipe used 3 times a week in the Battersea Yoga household!

Generally our western diet is far too sweet and  acidic.

For the ultimate alkaline hit in the mornings, try Angus Ford-Robertson's super green smoothie recipe. We have these three mornings a week.

All ingrediants go into the blender and thenwhizz until completely blended smooth. Can add ice cubes to chill.
